Having finally found the Sea Of Green, and thus 'Destination P', our intrepidish heroes encounter the "March Of The Meanies" in full stomp, relentlessly obliterating the last vestiges of 'the pleasures of color and music and all that's beautiful' from the former paradise.Today, Pepperland goes BLUE!!!
George Maestro depicts the panic to perfection, as elements of his pleasant Pepperland theme
are mercilessly mashed by the mounting menace of the minor scale motif. A stubborn, jittery strings/xylophone subtheme reiterates the rattle of the battle drums as the villainous army prepares for attack, then a blaring cacophony of brass unleashes the onslaught to assure complete and total annihilation.
Perhaps still under the influence of the effects of the Sea Of Time
, his score simultaneously invokes "Mars, Bringer Of War" from Holst's Planets Suite
, and anticipates a certain Black
Meanie still to come "from a galaxy far, far away"...
As scary as hell — like the malevolent Meanies themselves — the chaos escalates to a very final, apple-bonking climax.
And so it came to pass: "Pepperland Laid Waste"
